When you buy that ring for that someone special, you want to get something that is as unique as they are. No longer are rings in your basic style with a round stone. There are different kinds of metals and many different kinds of settings as well. The different kinds of metals most frequently used in wedding rings and bands are gold, silver, stainless steel, titanium and platinum.
A bezel ring is one example of a unique type of setting. The metal collar is elevated somewhat above the diamond or stone, thus giving the ring a low profile and protecting it from damage. This ring is excellent for those active individuals that otherwise would have to remove their ring frequently. Because of the elevation, the stone is also protected from dirt, dust or oil. Channel rings are rings with stones that are placed in a metal 'channel' and go in a continuous row of diamonds (or stones) with no metal separating them from each other. Channel rings are very popular as engagement and wedding rings.
Celtic rings are Irish rings and usually come with certain symbol attached to them. They are known for their eternal love knot on the rings, which means 'together forever', and for the Claddagh design on many of their rings, which is also a sign for love and friendship. Pave rings are named after the pavement we see outdoors. The diamonds are set so closely together that they look like shiny cobblestone pavement. Because there are so many, they look larger than they are, yet because of the quantity of stones, they are very small diamonds, making the ring less expensive than they look.
