Rings

When we think of jewelry, so many different pieces come to mind such as rings, necklaces, bracelets, earrings and body jewelry. The most common piece that we see the most is rings. There are many varieties of rings-almost a different ring for every relationship or every occasion.

Wedding rings have been around for many years, almost as long as we have been around. Some couples use a plain band as was used years ago, where as someone choose fancier diamond rings with diamonds or other gemstones. Engagement rings have also been around a long time, being the ring that is given to a woman when the couple become engaged to be married. The most common engagement ring is a diamond ring- a ring with a diamond setting on the top. There are many styles of diamond engagement rings. Some choose the simple solitaire setting with just a single diamond on top. Others choose a large diamond with smaller diamonds on the side. Most engagement and wedding rings are made of some kind of gold, whether it is yellow, white, rose or even Black Hills gold.

Rings come in a variety of price ranges. When buying a ring with a stone such as a diamond, the stone makes up the majority of the price. The larger the stone, the higher price the ring will be. It makes one think of a ring bling. The type of metal that makes up the ring also affects the price. A silver ring is going to cost a lot less than a gold ring. For this reason, many choose to purchase sterling silver rings. Sterling silver has become such a popular style that you will find sterling silver jewelry where every you see gold jewelry. Although there are different kinds of silver rings, the most common are the sterling silver ring varieties.

Another type of ring that has been very popular throughout the years is the class ring. Class rings are a ring that a high school student can buy from a ring company during their junior or senior year of school. You can usually have your choice of stone and the year of your graduation and initials are on the ring around the stone. Most students look forward to being able to purchase a class ring as a symbol of their great and memorable high school years. Often a boy will give a girl his class ring to wear if they begin a relationship as a couple. For years, this has been known as "going steady".

Promise rings are rings that a man will give a woman as a sign of a commitment, but not yet engagement or marriage. They are cheaper than an engagement ring, so often they are given as a type of promise of an engagement to come if finances are an issue.
