When it comes to claddagh rings, many people have them. In fact, a claddagh ring is a very traditional Irish ring which many people give in friendships; otherwise it is worn as a wedding ring. The design and customs for the ring originated in the Irish fishing village of Claddagh. Along with the history, many people don't know what the claddagh ring meaning is. However, it is supposed to symbolize love, friendship, and loyalty; that is where the heart, hands, and crown come in place.
There are many different types or varieties of the claddagh wedding ring. In fact, the original Irish claddagh ring is silver. Usually you will see a sterling silver claddagh ring but they are not all sterling silver claddagh rings. However, you may also see some Irish claddagh rings that are two toned. When you see a two tone claddagh ring, it is usually made of gold and sterling silver. However, you may also find them made of nickel or other silver materials. Another type of ring that you will often see is the gold claddagh ring. It is not very often that you will see a gold claddagh ring, however it is possible. Usually you will see it as a claddagh wedding ring. Many times when you see claddagh wedding rings they are not plain rings, they are usually some sort of claddagh gem stone ring. Many women like to have gem stones added to their wedding rings. Where as for the mens claddagh rings, they are usually plain looking. No matter what type of celtic claddagh ring for your wedding is used, it will be lovely because you are keeping a tradition going!
When it comes to claddagh rings, there are many traditions as well as meanings behind the ring. In fact, one of the many traditions is that a mother is supposed to pass the ring down to her daughter, and so on; as well as between friends and lovers. Another tradition of the ring is when is worn it tells people the romantic availability of the person. If the ring is on the right hand is facing out, the person is not in a relationship. When the ring is facing in the body the person is in a relationship. Then when the ring is on the left hand and facing out, the person is engaged to be married. But when the ring is facing in, the person is married. Those are a couple traditions of the claddagh ring that many people still follow today!!
If you plan on getting a claddagh ring for you best friend, you should not worry whether or not they are cheap claddagh rings or not. With a claddagh ring, it is the meaning behind it rather than the price!!
