Victorian Jewelry
Many times when people are looking at jewelry and they see all the different types of Victorian jewelry, they fall in love. In fact, many people like Victorian jewellery because it is such beautiful jewelry. However, many times when people have Victorian jewelry today, it is usually reproduction Victorian style jewelry. It is very hard to find any type of antique Victorian style jewelry still in good shape or for sale with a cheap price. Just because it is hard to find any of the early Victorian period jewelry, does not mean that it is impossible.
When people start to collect the Victorian style jewelry they realize all the different types of jewelry there is. In fact, 1837 is when Victorian jewelry started to make the marker of being a great piece of jewelry. One of the original types of jewelry that many women had was the Victorian mourning jewelry. The mourning jewelry was usually worn at funeral, or when the person was mourning over something. Another well known type of jewelry was the Victorian diamond jewelry. Like most other types of jewelry, the Victorian styled jewelry was also made with diamonds. Diamonds look great in almost any type of jewelry made. Because some of the jewelry is so beautiful, many companies today have made Victorian reproduction jewelry of the original pieces of jewelry. In fact, many stores consider it to be Victorian reproduction costume jewelry; because it is not the real thing. However, just because the jewelry is Victorian costume jewelry does not stop it from being a big seller!
Another big selling item during the Victorian era was the Victorian jewelry stands and jewelry boxes. What many people don't realize is the Victorian jewelry box is available in many different styles. Many of the Victorian jewelry boxes are now considered to be an antique Victorian jewelry box. Other than the jewelry box, there was also a Victorian styled jewelry armoire, as well. With many of the armoires, they were made to go with many of the jewelry boxes. They usually had the same sort of markings, as well. Back in the day, it was usually the wealthier women that had the jewelry armoires; because they were more expensive to buy.
Many times when people get Victorian style jewelry, they will take it to a jeweller to see if it is real or not. Either way, if it was handed down to you or given to you, it should not matter. You should like the jewelry because it was given to you!
